On AdS7 stability

Abstract: AdS 7 supersymmetric solutions in type IIA have been classified, and they are infinitely many. Moreover, every such solution has a non-supersymmetric sister. In this paper, we study the perturbative and non-perturbative stability of these non-supersymmetric solutions, focusing on cases without orientifolds. Perturbatively, we first look at the KK spectrum of spin-2 excitations. This does not exhibit instabilities, but it does show that there is no separation of scales for either the BPS and the non-BPS case, t… Show more

“…The main difficulty lies in the presence of the Oplane sources. There exist several AdS solutions with back-reacted O-planes (but without scale separation: see for example [6] for a discussion in AdS 7 ). But in this case, the most concrete examples proposed in [11] involve intersecting O-planes, whose back-reaction isn't even known in flat space.…”

“…The aim of this work is to take some initial steps towards improving our understanding of ten-dimensional solutions which are based on the DGKT proposal. 2 1 The absence of scale separation was actually shown for general classical supersymmetric AdS7 vacua in [6]. 2 Another approach towards establishing their validity would be to construct a dual CFT, which would have the so far unrealised features of a parametric hierarchy between the central charge and the scaling dimensions of an infinite number of operators.…”

“…Similar M5 or D4-D8 backgrounds that are non-supersymmetric but BF-stable within gauged supergravity have also been shown to be BJ-unstable [20]. Finally, the perturbative and non-perturbative stability of AdS 7 vacua in type IIA has been addressed in [21].…”
