In this Research paper two reliability models of a single unit system are analysed in detail using regenerative point technique. The unit fails completely via partial failure. There is single server who appears and disappears randomly from the system. However, he attends the system immediately at complete failure of the unit in Model-I. Server inspects the unit at its partial failure to see the possibility of on-line repair. If online repair is not possible, it is repaired in down state. The server cannot leave the system during inspection and repair. The distributions of failure time, random appearance and disappearance of the server are taken as negative exponential while that of inspection and repair time are arbitrary. All random variables are uncorrelated and independent to each other. The expressions for some reliability and economics measures are derived. The results for a particular case are also obtained to depict the behaviour of MTSF, availability and profit of the system models graphically.

The primary objective of this paper is to do the reliability modelling and analysis of a 1-out-of-2 unit repairable system having two non-identical units (main and duplicate units) with the concept of change in weather conditions. Initially, the main unit is operative whereas the duplicate unit is at cold standby. Single server visits the failed unit immediately for conducting repair in normal weather. The main and duplicate unit ceases to operate in the abnormal weather conditions. The expressions for some important reliability measures such as Transition probabilities, mean-sojourn time, MTSF, Availability and Profit of the system model have been derived in graphical form.

A repairable system of two non-identical units -one is an original (called main unit) and other is a substandard (called duplicate unit) is investigated stochastically under different weather conditions -normal and abnormal. The system starts its operation with original unit keeping duplicate unit in cold standby. There is a direct failure of each unit from normal mode. Both units are capable in performing the system functions well. A single server is called immediately to do repair of the unit whenever needed. The operation and repair of the units are stopped in abnormal weather. And, in normal weather, priority is given for operation and repair to the original unit over duplicate unit. After repair unit works as new. All random variables are statistically independent and uncorrelated. The failure time of the units and time to change of weather conditions follow negative exponential distributions while repair times of the units are arbitrarily distributed. Various reliability and performance measures are obtained in steady state using semi-Markov process and regenerative point technique. The graphical behavior of MTSF, availability and profit function with respect to normal weather rate has also been observed for a particular case.
