A new species of the diurnal gekkonid genus Pristurus Rüppell, 1835 from the Red Sea island Hanish al-Kabir, YemenAbstract. We describe a new species of gecko of the genus Pristurus from the Yemenite Red Sea Island Hanish al-Kabir. It is a small species (snout-vent length less than 30 mm) of the genus, distinguished from its congeners by a unique combination of morphological characters. Superficially, it is most similar to P. rupestris, but differs mainly by a longer and narrower snout, by its strongly compressed tail, presence of a lateral caudal groove, by a tail crest present in both sexes, by a higher number of scales bordering infralabials and a higher midbody scale count. The new species is tentatively considered to represent an island endemic. Its possible origin is briefly discussed.

We examined the taxonomy of the minute desert geckos of the Tropiocolotes nattereri species complex using the largest morphological sampling, and the first molecular assessment of intraspecific diversity within this complex. We examined variation in mitochondrial and nuclear markers (12S, ND2, c‐mos and MC1R) of 30 samples and analyzed the external morphology of 202 specimens, from across the entire distribution range of the complex from Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. We recognize two species under the name T. nattereri. We thus hereby describe a new species, T. yomtovi sp. n., and we redefine and redescribe T. nattereri, for which we designate a neotype. The species diversity in the genus Tropiocolotes increases to 15.

In this study, a total of 170 specimens belonging to 21 snake species that have been collected from Şanlıurfa province between 2016 and 2017 as well as during the previous years (2004-2015) and preserved in ZMADYU (Zoology Museum of Adıyaman University) were examined. Nine of the specimens examined were belong to Typhlopidae, 17 to Leptotyphlopidae, 9 to Boidae, 112 to Colubridae, 14 Natricidae, 4 Psammophiidae, 1 to Elapidae, and 5 to Viperidae families. As a result of the field studies, Satunin's Black-Headed Dwarf Snake, Rhynchocalamus satunini (Nikolsky, 1899) was reported for the first time from Şanlıurfa province. The specimen belonging to Zamenis hohenackeri (Strauch, 1873) given in the literature could not be observed during this study. The color-pattern and some metric and meristic measurements of the specimens were taken. In addition, ecological and biological information has been given on the species observed.
