STEM education is recommended to be started in early childhood. This study was conducted to determine the effect of STEM activities on preschool students' scientific process skills. The study was carried out with a total of 24 students (11 control groups, 13 experimental groups) who were educated in a preschool in Elazığ province during 2017-2018 academic year. In this study, quasiexperimental design was used. The study consisted of activities involving STEM applications, robotic studies and fun science experiments for 11 weeks. In the study, robotics studies and amusing science experiments were integrated and applied in accordance with STEM understanding. Applications lasted for 11 weeks. In the control group, the current program has been adhered to during the course process. The scientific process skill test (SPST) was used as a data collection tool in the study. The pre-test and posttest scores of scientific process skill test were analyzed using the Mann-Witney U test. When the test statistic was examined, it was concluded that the students in the experimental and control groups had a statistically significant difference between the SPST post-test scores and sub-dimensions of SPST (p <.01). STEM activities have been found to contribute to preschool students 'scientific process skills.

Çalışmada 2016-2018 yılları arasında TÜBİTAK 4004 Programı kapsamında okul öncesi dönemde desteklenmesine karar verilen projelerin çeşitli boyutlara göre incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma tarama modeline uygun olarak tasarlanmış ve çalışmanın alt amaçlarına ilişkin bulgular içerik analizi ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre; okul öncesi dönemde desteklenmesine karar verilen en fazla projenin 2017 yılına ait olduğu, projelerin en çok üniversiteler tarafından yürütüldüğü, projelerin çoğunun Akdeniz Bölgesi'nde uygulandığı ve daha çok 5-6 yaş grubundaki çocuklarla gerçekleştirildiği görülmektedir. Ayrıca çoğu projenin çocukların doğaya karşı olumlu tutum ve değer geliştirmelerini sağlamak ile bilinçli ve sağlıklı nesillerin yetişmesine destek olmak amaçlarıyla gerçekleştirildiği belirlenmiş, projelerin uygulama sürelerinin ise 4 gün ile 3 ay arasında değiştiği gözlemlenmiştir. Projelerin öğretim yöntemi açısından en fazla yaparak-yaşayarak öğrenmeye vurgu yaptığı ve projelerde en çok yerinde inceleme ve gözlem tekniklerinin kullanıldığı görülmüştür.Anahtar Kelimeler: Okul öncesi eğitim, bilim eğitimi, doğa eğitimi, proje tabanlı öğrenme, yaparak-yaşayarak öğrenme AbstractThe aim of this study is to examine the projects carried out in preschool period within the scope of TÜBİTAK 4004 Program between 2016-2018. This study designed in scanning model and the findings were analyzed by content analysis. It was found that most of the projects were realized in 2017 and were carried out by universities. Most of the projects were implemented in the Mediterranean Region and realized with children in the 5-6 age group. It was seen that the aim of the most of projects were to develop positive attitudes and values about nature and supporting the development of conscious and healthy generations. It was observed that the implementation period of the projects ranged from 4 days to 3 months. It was found that all of the projects were emphasized the method of learning by doing and most of them were used examination and observation techniques.

Pre-school science education is one of the most important educational processes that enables inquiry, problem-solving, exploring and commenting in children. With a qualified science education, children can develop their curiosity and appreciation for nature while becoming science literate. Furthermore, children who learn to transfer their knowledge of daily life also develop scientific process skills and problem-solving abilities. These competencies are acquired through pre-school education when the child actively participates in the process. The child solves and explains the complex activities surrounding him/her with the support of science activities he/she sees as a game in the science education process. Thus, it is recommended to gain an individual who has developed a sense of research and interpretation. In this study, the aim is to examine the Pre-School Education Program of the Ministry of National Education which is being taught in Turkish Republic of North Cyprus and Republic of Turkey with a specific focus on science activities. In the study, the activities in the program are examined in terms of number, subject, scope, achievement and applicability in accordance with qualitative research and document analysis. Additionally, alternative science activities have been proposed in parallel with the topics in the study. As a result, it has been determined that the number of science activities is kept low in both programs, the subjects which are important outcomes of contemporary life such as environment, animal, soil are not included in programs too much, and the activities are not able to respond to all of the determined achievements. ÖzOkul öncesinde fen eğitimi; çocukta sorgulamayı, araştırmayı, problem çözmeyi, keşfetmeyi ve yorum geliştirmeyi sağlayan önemli eğitim süreçleri arasındadır. Nitelikli bir fen eğitimi ile çocuklar, fen okuryazarı olurken, doğaya karşı duydukları merak ve ilgilerini geliştirirler. Bu sırada bilgilerini günlük hayata transfer etmeyi öğrenenirler, bilimsel süreç becerilerini geliştirirler ve problem çözme davranışlarını artırırlar. Okul öncesi eğitimde bu yetkinliklerin kazandırılması, çocuğun aktif olarak sürece katılması ile olur. Çocuk, fen eğitimi sürecinde oyun olarak gördüğü fen etkinlikleri desteğiyle çevresindeki karmaşık olayları çözümler ve anlamlandırır. Böylece eğitim sürecinde araştırma ve yorumlama duygusu gelişmiş bir birey kazandırmak hedeflenir. Bu çalışmada Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti ve Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nde okutulmakta olan KKTC MEB Okul Öncesi Eğitim Programının ve TC MEB Okul Öncesi Eğitim Programının fen etkinlikleri kapsamında incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada, her iki programda yer alan etkinlikler nitel araştırmaya ve doküman analizine uygun olarak sayı, konu, kazanım, uygulanabilirlik gibi alt birimler altında incelenmiştir.
