Oil-Soluble Ultraviolet-Absorbing Carbon Dots Dispersed in Polyethylene Films as Antiaging Materials

Abstract: Ultraviolet (UV) absorbents are widely used in coatings and polymers owing to their remarkable absorbance of UV irradiation. As a new type of organic UV absorbent, carbon dots (CDs) have presented outstanding UV absorption properties. However, the use of water-soluble reactants in the synthesis process of most CDs makes them easy to dissolve in water, which is not conducive to their use in the field of thin films. In this paper, we report an effective hydrothermal method to prepare threecomponent carbon dots (… Show more

“…The peaks at 6.53, 6.57, 7.05, and 7.07 ppm are attributed to the presence of H on the aromatic ring. The peak at 7.97 ppm can be assigned to H in amide . The results of FT-IR, XPS, and 1 H NMR indicate that the surface of NCDs contains other functional groups, including carbon rings, CO, C–O, and −NH 2 .…”

“…Secondly, controlling inflammation can prevent aging signals, because chronic inflammation can contribute to premature aging by breaking down collagen and elastin fibers [11]. As anti-inflammatory agents, C-dots can potentially slow this process and contribute to maintaining skin elasticity and firmness [36,44]. In addition, inflammation can compromise the natural barrier function of the skin, inducing moisture loss and vulnerability to external irritants [45].…”
