Within an organizational structure, there are many sources of power that feed and run the influence action of the manager. The source and use of power in the hands of the manager has significant effects on employees' attitudes and behaviors such as morale, motivation, loyalty, trust, organizational citizenship, job satisfaction, job stress, alienation from work and organization and organizational silence. Organizational silence behaviors are considered to be one of the employee behaviors in which the effects of power use and power distance will be felt the most. In this study, it is aimed to determine the perceptions of teachers about the relationship between power distance and organizational silence behaviors. The research was carried out by using the correlational survey model. The sample of this research was determined by simple random sampling method and it consisted of 552 teachers working in primary, secondary and high schools in central districts of Samsun during the 2019-2020 academic year. As data collection tools, "Power Distance Scale" developed by Dorfman and Howell (1988) and adapted to Turkish by Akyol (2009), and the "Organizational Silence Scale" developed by Dyne, Ang and Botero (2003) were used. As a result of the research, it was determined that there is a significant relationship between the general power distance total score variable and the teachers' organizational silence scores.

Eğitim örgütlerinde örgütsel sinerji, okuldaki farklı paydaş ya da birimlerin bütünleştirilmesi yoluyla, teker teker toplamlarından daha büyük bir etki yaratma çabasına dikkat çekmektedir. Örgütlere önemli bir katma değer sağlayan sinerjinin yaratılması için ise belirli örgütsel koşulların ve özelliklerin bulunması gerekmektedir. Dolayısıyla bu araştırmada, sağlıklı-sağlıksız örgütsel profilleri içinde barındıran örgüt DNA'sının belirlenmesi, örgüt DNA'sında bulunan bu özelliklerinin örgütsel sinerji üzerinde nasıl bir rol oynadığının tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma ilişkisel tarama modelinde desenlenmiş, 301 öğretmenle yürütülmüştür. Veriler, Örgüt DNA'sı Ölçeği ve Öğretmenlere Yönelik Örgütsel Sinerji Ölçeği ile gönüllülük esasına dayalı olarak toplanmıştır. Analizler betimsel istatistikler, korelasyon ve hiyerarşik regresyon analizi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları okulların örgütsel sinerji düzeylerinin orta ile yüksek düzey aralığında algılandığını göstermiştir. Örgüt DNA'sına yönelik ortalamalar ise sağlıklı örgüt profillerinin (esnek örgüt, tam zamanlı örgüt ve askeri örgüt) orta ile yüksek; sağlıksız örgüt profillerinin ise (pasif saldırgan örgüt, yönetim ağırlıklı örgüt ve gelişigüzel çalışan örgüt) düşük ile orta düzey aralığında algılandığına işaret etmiştir. Bununla birlikte sonuçlar esnek, tam zamanlı ve askeri örgüt profillerinin örgütsel sinerji üzerinde pozitif yönlü bir açıklayıcılığa sahip olduğunu göstermiştir. Benzer şekilde araştırma sonuçlarına göre, pasif saldırgan örgüt profili örgütsel sinerjiyi negatif yönde yordarken; yönetim ağırlıklı örgüt ve gelişigüzel çalışan örgüt profillerinin örgütsel sinerjinin anlamlı bir yordayıcısı olmadığı anlaşılmıştır.

The aim of this study is to determine the mediating role of teachers' critical thinking dispositions in the relationship between their organisational power distance perceptions and autonomy behaviors. The sample of the research consists of 322 teachers working in primary, secondary, and high schools in Menteşe district of Muğla province. Organizational Power Distance Scale, UF/EMI Critical Thinking Disposition Scale, and Teacher Autonomy Scale were used as data collection instruments. Descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation coefficients were used in the analysis of the data. The mediating effect of teachers' critical thinking dispositions in the relationship between their organisational power distance perceptions and autonomy behaviors was tested with structural equation modeling. According to the research findings, teachers have the perception of acceptance of power the most and justification of power the least in terms of the dimensions of organisational power distance. Teachers' critical thinking dispositions and their autonomy behaviors are at high levels. There are low level, negative and statistically significant relationships between teachers' autonomy behaviors and their instrumental use of power, justification of power, and acquiescence of power. There are low level, negative, and statistically significant relationships between critical thinking disposition and acceptance of power, instrumental use of power, and acquiscence of power. In addition, there is a moderate level, negative, and statistically significant relationship between critical thinking disposition and justification of power, and a moderate level, positive, and statistically significant relationship between critical thinking disposition and teachers' autonomy behaviors. It has been revealed that the critical thinking disposition has a full mediator role in the relationship between teacher autonomy and the dimensions of organisational power distance which are justification of power and acquiescence of power.
