During the last two decades, social media has immersed itself into all facets of our personal and professional lives. The healthcare sector is no exception, with public health departments now capitalizing on the benefits that social media offers when delivering healthcare education and communication with citizens. Provincial Health Committees (PHCs) in China have begun to adopt the micro-video sharing platform, Tik Tok, to engage with local residents and communicate health-related information. This study investigates the status quo of official Tik Tok accounts managed by PHCs in mainland China. In total, 31 PHC accounts were analyzed during August 2019, while the top 100 most liked micro-videos were examined using content analysis. Coding included three major aspects: Quantified Impact, Video Content, and Video Form. 45.2% (n = 14) of PHCs had official Tik Tok accounts. A limited number of accounts (n = 2) were yet to upload a micro-video, while most (n = 9) had uploaded their first micro-video during 2019. For the top 100 most liked micro-videos, a sharp difference was observed in terms of number of Likes, Comments and Reposts. Videos containing cartoons or documentary-style content were most frequently watched by citizens. Similarly, content that promoted professional health or provided knowledge of diseases was frequently viewed. Content containing original music, formal mandarin language, subtitles, and which lasted less than 60 s, were most frequently followed. It is considered a missed opportunity that most PHCs struggle to take advantage of the Tik Tok platform, especially given its growing popularity and daily increase in account creation.

Website users have increasingly high expectations regarding website quality, starting from performance and ending up with the content. This article provides a list and characteristics of selected website quality indices and testing applications that are available free of charge. Aggregated website quality indices were characterised based on a review of various source materials, including the academic literature and Internet materials. Aggregated website quality indices are usually developed with a less specialised user (customer) searching for descriptive information in mind. Their presentation is focused on aesthetic sensations. Most frequently, their values are expressed in points or percent. Many of these indices appear to be of little substantive value, as they present approximate, estimated values. These indices, however, are of great marketing value instead. Specific (“single”) indices are of a specialised nature. They are more difficult to interpret and address the subtle aspects of website and web application functioning. They offer great value to designers and software developers. They indicate critical spots which affect the website quality. Most of them are expressed precisely, often up to two or three decimal places, in specific units. Algorithmic tests for website quality, whose results are presented using indices, enable a reduction in the cost intensiveness of tests as well as an increase in their number and frequency, as the tests are repetitive and their number is not limited. What is more, they allow the results to be compared.

Factors Associated with Website Operation among Small Hospitals and Medical and Dental Clinics in Korea

Objectives: The objective of this study was to investigate the factors associated with website operation among medical facilities.Methods: A cross-sectional study design was employed to investigate 1,519 hospitals, 33,043 medical clinics (MCs), and 18,240 dental clinics (DCs) as of 2020. The main outcome variable was analyzed according to technological, organizational, and environmental factors.Results: The percentages of small hospitals, MCs, and DCs with websites were 26.4%, 9.0%, and 6.6%, respectively. For small hospitals, the nearby presence of a subway station (odds ratio [OR] = 2.772; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.973–3.892; p < 0.0001) was the only factor significantly associated with website operation status. Among medical and dental clinics, the percentage of specialists—MCs (OR = 1.002; 95% CI, 1.000–1.004; p = 0.0175) and DCs (OR = 1.002; 95% CI, 1.001–1.004; p = 0.0061), the nearby presence of a subway station—MCs (OR = 2.954; 95% CI, 2.613–3.339; p < 0.0001) and DCs (OR = 3.444; 95% CI, 2.945–4.028; p < 0.0001), and the number of clinics in the local area—MCs (OR = 1.029; 95% CI, 1.026–1.031; p < 0.0001) and DCs (OR = 1.080; 95% CI, 1.066–1.093; p < 0.0001)—were significantly associated with website operation.Conclusions: Clinics are critically affected by internal and external factors regarding website operation relative to small hospitals. Healthcare policymakers involved with information technologies may need to pay attention to those factors associated with website dispersion among small clinics.
