OFDM Chirp Waveform Design Based on Subchirp Bandwidth Overlap and Segmented Transmitting for Low Correlation Interference in MIMO Radar

Abstract: There are some special merits for the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) chirp waveform as multiple input multiple output (MIMO) signals. This signal has high range resolution, good Doppler tolerance, and constant modulus superiority since it exploits a full bandwidth and is based on chirp signals. The correlation sidelobe peaks level are critical for the detection requirement of MIMO radar signals, however conventional OFDM chirp signals produce high autocorrelation sidelobe peaks (ASP) and cro… Show more

“…(i) perfect periodic synthesized binary sequences with variable amplitude and higher energy efficiency are designed to achieve zero sidelobes in zero correlation zone so that even a small target present near the large target can be detected. (ii) to avoid the interference of multiple waveforms in applications such as RSN, MIMO radar or CDMA communications, it is desired to make sidelobes as low as possible [16][17][18][19][20][21][22]. The perfect periodic autocorrelation property of synthesized sequences are shown in Figures 4(b), 5, 7(a) and 7(b).…”

“…Lan et al proposed a modulation mode of the OFDM signal based on a subchirp bandwidth overlap and piecewise transceiver. The modulation scheme reduces the ASP of a signal by designing a reasonable sweep bandwidth range and piecewise transceiver mode, and the designed signal had good detection performance in MIMO radar monitoring [23].…”

“…Recently, interest in autonomous driving and connected car has grown because of implementing an intelligent transportation system. Although sensors such as light detection and ranging (Lidar) and cameras can be used to recognize the surrounding environment, vehicle radar technology using millimeter waves is drawing attention as it is not affected by the surrounding environment, such as bad weather or light intensity [ 1 , 2 ]. In order to increase the number of sensors fitted to vehicles and to communicate various sensing information and road information, inter-vehicle communication technology with a high data rate is needed.…”
