Infertility or sterility due to uterine pathology is one of the major reasons for culling of buffalo in India. Abattoirs serve as a good source of biological samples in order to study different pathological conditions. Major affections of uterus in buffalo include endometritis, metritis, pyometra, hydrometra, mucometra and certain congenital abnormalities. Mostly diagnosis of such cases is based on gross morphological examination observed in abattoir or sometime on clinical and post-mortem examination. Histological based diagnosis of major affections of uterus in buffalo is less and as such very few reports are available especially on hydrometra and mucometra conditions. The present study reports the morphological and histopathological evaluation of cytological and purulent endometritis, hydrometra and mucometra conditions in riverine buffalo.

This article shows the results of the experimental researches in the cellular link of local immune protection of cats' genitals. Due to the urgency of the problem the aim of our study was to investigate the functional state of the phagocytic cells and to explore and interpret their role in the formation of the antimicrobial potential of homeostasis in the system of local immunity of the cats' reproductive organs. Cytochemical research determined the antimicrobial reactive Oxygen-dependent mechanism for the protection of neutrophil granulocytes in reaction with NBT It was found out, that the antimicrobial potential of phagocyte cells actively realizes via Oxygen dependent protection mechanisms. The total number of NBT + phagocytic cells in the investigated micropreparations was 21.35 ± 0.86%. Cytochemical reactivity of primary phagocytic cells was shown on the I and II level, which reflects the full manifestation of the phagocytic defense. The activated phagocytes have also shown the active adhesion and phagocytosis of epithelial cells and of apoptosial macrophages, which is also one of the signs of the maintenance of cellular homeostasis. The interpretation of the results was done according to the outcomes of the research and the conclusions and recommendations on the application of cytochemical studies in a comprehensive assessment of the antimicrobial potential of phagocytic cells and for predicting clinical evaluation of reproductive diseases in small animals were developed. It is recommended to perform cytochemical studies during complex testing of the local immune protection of the reproductive organs of animals, which will allow to objectively assess the state of cellular immunity, diagnose subclinical manifestation of reproductive pathology and predict the risk of complications.

O ciclo estral está relacionado com a reprodutividade de uma fêmea. No entanto, algumas afecções interferem diretamente no seu ciclo reprodutivo, um exemplo é a hidrometra, enfermidade em que ocorre a deposição de líquido asséptico e translúcido no lúmen do útero e que pode, indiretamente, interferir na ciclicidade e reprodutividade de uma fêmea. Diante do exposto, o objetivo dessa revisão integrativa foi identificar alterações de órgãos do trato reprodutivo de fêmeas de companhia que favorecem o desenvolvimento de um quadro de hidrometra. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura. Foram selecionados 14 artigos que relatavam ou abordavam a temática da hidrometra em fêmeas de companhia (cadelas, gatas e coelhas). Após a seleção dos artigos, foi realizada a extração de informações clínicas relevantes que podem inferir no desenvolvimento da hidrometra. Foram encontradas na literatura as principais afecções relacionadas com a hidrometra: localização ectópica de ureteres dentro da parede do útero e vagina; cisto canino do ducto de Gartner com agenesia renal; urolítiase; hérnias perineal e inguinal; aplasias uterinas; síndrome do ovário remanescente; adenoma e pólipos proliferativos no endométrio; teratoma; torções uterinas e adenocarcinoma. Alguns autores relatam a importância do controle no uso de progestágenos exógenos uma vez que o estímulo crônico dos receptores de estrogênio no tecido uterino pode influenciar no aumento da produção de fluido intraluminal. Por fim, salienta-se a importância do acompanhamento veterinário de animais em idade e atitude reprodutiva para diagnóstico precoce de afecção e promoção de saúde e qualidade de vida às fêmeas.
