Video conferences have become a popular application in modem high performance networks. Advanced technologies allow their installation on desktop computers. Currently videoconferences are mainly deployed for large open group conferences in the Internet to transmit lectures, conferences, talks, and discussions. Multiparty video conference tools for c10sed group meetings are less broadly used. On the other hand, most meetings in every-day life are meetings of closed groups with a more or less confidential character. UnJike open group conferences cJosed group meetings require asender related transmission paradigm, i.e. the sender must know the receivers ofthe data streams. This is usuaHy solved by using a centralized group server for the group and the QoS management. The shortages of this approach are server failures and performance problems. The decentralized approach is more flexible, but it requires more sophisticated mechanisms to preserve the consistency ofthe management data at each participant. In the paper we present the signalization protocol GCP to support decentralized c10sed group video conferences. It provides an atomic, ordered, and reliable data delivery service and supports a dynamic join and leave ofparticipants. We present two versions of the protocol: one for A TM networks using overlaid multi cast connections and one for IP-based networks.

Abstract-Popularized by Napster and Gnutella file sharing solutions, peer-to-peer (P2P) computing has suddenly emerged at the forefront of Internet computing. The basic notion of cooperative computing and resource sharing has been around for quite some time, although these new applications have opened up possibilities of very flexible webbased information sharing. This article provides a framework for classifying current and future P2P technologies. The main motivation for the classification is to identify basic characteristics of P2P applications so that the infrastructure to support P2P computing can concentrate on these basic characteristics.

Abstract. Many emerging interactive and collaborative applications use the peer-to-peer paradigm nowadays. In every-day life peer-to-peer meetings of small groups are dominant, e.g. for business talks. Confidentiality is of primary concern in this context to provide group privacy. To assure confidentiality the partners have to agree upon a secret group key for encrypting their communication. This requires a secure distributed group key exchange protocol which assures that only active, uniquely authenticated group members know the current session key. In this paper we present a novel distributed key distribution protocol, called TKD, to efficiently support the key renewal in small dynamic peer groups. Performance comparisons show that TKD has a lower key refreshment delay compared to existing key exchange protocols.
