Occurrence of Fusarium spp. on Malting Barley Grains in the Czech Republic During 2011-2013

Abstract: frequency of occurrence and species spectrum of Fusarium fungi occurring on grains of five malting varieties of spring barley (Aksamit, Bojos, Malz, Radegast, and Kangoo) were monitored at two locations (Kroměříž and Žabčice, Czech Republic). The effect of three fungicide treatment variants on Fusarium species suppression was also evaluated. During the monitored period, five species were detected: F. poae, F. culmorum, F. graminearum, F. avenaceum, and F. tricinctum. The most frequently isolated species was F.… Show more

“…In detail, this trend was observed in wheat and barley in different Italian areas 39‐42 . This change was also confirmed in other countries such as Czech Republic, 43 United Kingdom, 44 Slovak Republic, 45 Denmark, 46 France, 47 Belgium, 48 Argentina, 49,50 central Mexico 51 and different regions of Canada 52,53 . In addition, fluctuations of F. poae and F. avenaceum incidence as the main FHB causal agents within the complex, but with a constant presence of F. graminearum , was also shown in a recent 3‐year single‐field experiment conducted on malting barley in central Italy 54 …”
