“…Higher perceptions of organizational fairness are associated with fewer "noble cause corruption" and "code-of-silence" beliefs, which are belief systems associated with police misconduct (S. E. Wolfe & Piquero, 2011). Recent work demonstrates that high levels of perceived fairness amongst officers reduced endorsement of noble-cause corruption, and organizational justice moderated the link between high workload and noble-cause corruption beliefs (Lawson et al, 2021). In other words, treating officers fairly within the organizational context helped protect against the adverse consequences of overwork, and is associated with officers behaving more justly, and treating citizens more fairly.…”
