“…An association between pesticides and Parkinson's disease was first suspected in 1983, when the chemical 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP), which has a chemical structure similar to the herbicide paraquat, was observed to cause acute Parkinsonism (3).
