Abstract:Obstructieveslaapapneusyndroom (OSAS) kan samengaan met hart-en vaatzieken, diabetes mellitus type 2 en veranderingen in het metabolisme. Het bij herhaling optreden van obstructieve apneus, met de daarbij behorende pathofysiologische veranderingen, zoals intermitterende hypoxie, verhoogde sympathicusactiviteit en verstoring van de slaap, speelt hierbij een belangrijke rol.
