Observer based sliding mode frequency control for multi-machine power systems with high renewable energy

Abstract: With the global consciousness of climate change, renewable energy systems are prioritized over the conventional energy systems. The deep injection of renewables into the power systems is creating several challenges to the grid due to wide variations in their output power depending on the time of the day, weather etc. Of these challenges, frequency change plays a vital role in maintaining the power quality. This paper presents a novel sliding mode controller with non-linear disturbance observer to effectively m… Show more

“…SMC is an efficient tool to design robust controllers which has been widely used in the converter controller designing (Ma et al, 2019;Feng et al, 2020). An observer based sliding mode frequency control strategy is proposed for multi-machine power systems with high renewable energy (Tummala et al, 2018). A fractionalorder sliding mode control is proposed for a D-STATCOM to compensate the low power distribution system (Ahmed et al, 2021).…”

“…With the increase of energy crisis and environmental pollution, renewable energy has become the focus of current research because of its inexhaustible characteristics and environmental friendliness [1][2][3]. However, the output power of renewable energy has significant randomness and intermittency [4].…”
