Observations on the Survival and Neovascularization of Fat Grafts Interchanged between C57BL/6-gfp and C57BL/6 Mice

Abstract: Fat grafts can survive and neovascularized vessels can grow from the recipient sites. Fat transplantation is feasible and will be applied more widely if fat graft survival is improved.

“…Therefore, the longterm retention of fat grafts was our first concern in this study. Graft volume continues to decline until 3 months post-transplantation [22], and therefore the third month post-transplantation was regarded as the most appropriate time point to measure the long-term volume retention of fat grafts in small animal models, which are consistent with previous studies [10,23,24]. The following factors influence the long-term retention of fat grafts.…”

“…However, because bleeding was never observed after grafting, it is likely that none of the four spots had large musculocutaneous perforators, which in turn suggests that there were negligible differences between the four spots in terms of vascularity. 7,18 Thus, all three fat mixtures were injected into the same locations in 12 mice; there were 16 fat injections in each group. After the injections, the skin wounds were sutured with 6-0 nylon, and antibiotic ointment was applied on the wound surfaces ( Fig.…”

“…[3][4][5][6] Our previous experimental data confirmed that fat graft can survive and neovascularized vessels can grow from the recipient adjacent environment to nourish the grafts. 7 For Disclosure: None of the authors has a financial interest in any of the products or devices mentioned in this article. the other issues, many researchers and clinicians have spared no effort in modifying the application of fat grafting and improving its effectiveness, including the process of liposuction, fat graft preparation, methods of injection, surviving fat volume measurement, and so on.…”

“…However, this concept does not consider cells derived from the host. Host-derived cells, including ASCs, are involved in angiogenesis and adipogenesis in grafts after transplantation [27]. Therefore, we believe that adipose regeneration can occur in any part of the graft, even in the central zone, if there is sufficient space for adipogenesis.…”
