Observations on the refrigeration of some Illinois fruits in transit / by J.W. Lloyd and H.M. Newell.

Abstract: Fruit and Vegetable Marketing For many years southern Illinois has produced considerable quantities of fruits and vegetables intended primarily for Chicago and other nearby markets. Direct rail transportation from the producing regions to these markets enabled the growers to harvest their products and place them on the market in twenty-four to thirty-six hours.
