“…The Suffolk coast is an example of open water exposure with Sizewell-Dunwich Banks located offshore, parallel to the coast, close to the ROI. These naturally-occurring structures are relatively narrow (~2 km in width) underwater sand banks, over 10 km in length [37] and were created by wave energy, currents and sediment transport, and they reduce wave energy. A few studies have shown that the growth of the banks (especially the Dunwich bank) has altered the direction and the height of approaching waves.…”
