This report attempts to summarize work by U.S. scientists published during the period 1967 through 1970 on the topics of the solar wind (including plasma, magnetic and electric fields, and the relation to the sun, but excluding the transport of cosmic rays) and its interaction with the planets and the moon (including, for the interaction with the earth, the bow shock, the magnetosheath, the distant magnetospheric tail, and the geomagnetic effects directly attributed to the solar wind, but excluding the magnetosphere and related topics, which are covered in the report by Neil M. Brice).
