Observation of the vocal tract configuration while playing a woodwind instrument

Abstract: Skillful players of brass instruments and reed woodwinds are able to control the vocal tract effectively and perform with intended pitches and sound qualities. The player’s vocal tract is, to a first approximation, connected with the instrument bore acoustically in series. If the magnitude of the vocal tract impedance is comparable with the bore impedance, the acoustic pressure in the mouth can then exert influences with a vibrating reed. However, studies reliant enough to confirm the configuration of the voca… Show more

“…The current psychological community lacks an effective supply of psychological knowledge, especially theoretical knowledge at the meso and macro levels. As scientific research progresses, researchers should focus on training their underlying logical thinking so that they are bold enough to "disprove" old theories and create new ones [14][15][16]. The development of psychology cannot, in any way, escape from the underlying framework of humanistic philosophical thinking about the practice of "subjectivity" in history and culture.…”

“…Both new instruments, media communication, stage design, and the skill development of vocal performers themselves have produced a series of changes [7][8][9][10]. How to strengthen the infectious power of the vocal stage and how to express the inner thoughts and emotions of vocal works are issues that vocal performers are always studying in the process of vocal "teaching" and "learning" [11][12][13][14]. In vocal singing, the so-called control ability is the ability to sing, which includes the control of voice strength, singing speed, and breath energy, all of which belong to the psychological characteristics of personality in vocal art psychology [15][16][17][18].…”
