“…The value of zν ≈ 8.2 is also within the recommended range of 4−12, found for SGs [6]. The value of τ 0 is found to be 10 −11 which is near about the recommended range [21].…”

“…In this paper we focus on the dc magnetization and ac susceptibility measurements for characterizing the low temperature peak around 8 K. The zero-field cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) memory effects below the low temperature peak confirm the SG-like state. In order to study the spin glass nature, ac susceptibility under different frequenciesis studied [21]. Frequency dependent shift of the low temperature peak, as obtained from the ac susceptibility measurements, satisfies the Vogel-Fulcher and dynamical scaling laws with results similar to that observed for the classical SG systems.…”

“…3(c)), which taken alongside other evidence can also be a sign of spin glass/cluster glass systems in the frozen state, as was shown for other glassy compounds. 11,26,36,42 The magnetization does not reach saturation up to the highest applied field of T (the expected saturation magnetization is 1.80×10 4 emu/mol for Na-bir and 2.01×10 4 emu/mol for K-bir). For Na-bir there is a narrow hysteresis loop but for K-bir any hysteresis is smaller than the step size in H (see insets in Fig.…”

“…At the same time, this high mobility of the interlayer cations has led to the wide use of birnessite compounds in the field of battery storage as capacitors showing high cycling capability. 9,10,11 Furthermore, birnessite compounds have been demonstrated as molecular sieves for purposes such as water purification. 12 Concerning vacancies in the manganese layers, it has been suggested that their existence probably depends on synthesis conditions.…”

“…The high mobility of the interlayer cations together with the low toxicity and cost of birnessite materials provide applications in the field of energy storage, such as capacitors showing high cycling capability, [4][5][6] and as promising cathodes for batteries. 7 Moreover, birnessites have been used as starting materials for further chemical transformations.…”
