Unique Properties of Quadratic Solitons

Quadratic spatial solitons exist in media with second order nonlinearities near the phase-matching condition for frequency mixing processes involving two or three waves of different frequency. Discussed here are a number of properties of these special solitons which are different from those of other spatial solitons which rely on optically induced index changes for guiding. First, the self-guiding properties of quadratic solitons are shown to have completely different origins than solitons which rely on index changes. Second, it is shown that there exists a large variety of quadratic solitons which contain two or three distinct spectral components with relative amplitudes depending on the phase mismatch, dimensionality of the propagation geometry, the soliton power and the launching conditions. Third, under appropriate conditions, solitons can be formed even when the group velocity directions for the spectral components lead to walk-off under normal circumstances. Fourth, for type II phase-matching in bulk crystals, seeded interactions lead to saturating amplifier characteristics.

This study has been focused on the linear and nonlinear behavior and investigative in single-ring resonator. Optical fiber ring resonators have great interest due to different applications, especially in communication, secured communication, slow light, fast light and light storage in optical buffers. There are many proposed applications of optical ring resonators. Optical fiber ring resonators can be readily constructed from standard optical fiber components, which allow their properties to be studied in a systematic manner. In this paper, we describe our studies of the optical transmission, intensity, shift phase and group delay characteristics of a family of such devices. In this case, Gaussian beam has been used as an input pulse inside to microring resonators. In this paper, transmission, intensity, shift phase and group delay characteristics of device have been investigated. It has been compared together in different coupling coefficients in frame of linear and nonlinear.

SUPPLEMENTARY NOTES Companion report isHigh-bandwidth optical Communications will greatly benefit from optical switches since they could eliminate the optical/electronic conversion. Optical logic gates allowing data regeneration, gain, cascadability, would allow even more complex all-optical routing functions. In this work we report on an in-depth study of an optical logic gates based on spatial and spatio-temporal solitons. Optical solitons that propagate long distances without change, act as the natural carrier of binary data due to their stability to perturbations and intrinsic threshold. The non-diffracting nature of spatial optical solitons lends to their use in a class of angular deflection logic gates in which a weak signal can alter the propagation of a strong pump in order to change the device state from high to low, thereby implementing a controlled inverterwhich is cascadable to produce logically-complete, multi-input NOR.Reduced forms of the multi-dimensional, nonlinear spatio-temporal wave equation are solved numerically to study the spatial collision and dragging interactions between orthogonally-polarized spatial solitons and spatio-temporal solitary waves. These three-terminal angular deflection gates, provide complete logic-level restoration, fanout greater than two with large noise margin, and cascadability. In addition, the spatiotemporal logic gates are expected to have pj switching energies using enhanced nonlinear media, and ps switching times through temporal pipelined operation.
