Observation of New Structure in thee+eCross Section above theϒ(

Abstract: Measurements of the e + e~ cross section above BB threshold are reported. Structures are observed which could be the Y(5S) and Y(6S) resonances. The masses and widths are given and compared with various potential-model predictions. Average charged multiplicities and inclusive lepton yields are also presented.

“…I should note that the phenomenology of heavy hybrids is very interesting. Early results from the CUSB and CLEO collaborations [9,10] revealed a complex resonance structure between the bb threshold and 11.2 GeV in e + e − annihilation as shown in Fig.1. This is precisely the energy range where the lowest hybrid excitations are expected.…”

“…The new data, a posteriori, give additional support to the analysis of CLEO data presented in Ref. [22] and, furthermore, lead to a significant reduction of the experimental error. The new theory results for the higher moments lead to a further reduction of the theory uncertainty and, equally important, demonstrate the consistency between the analysis based on different moments.…”

“…It is convenient to split the integration region into three pieces: The lowest region covering the narrow resonances, an intermediate "threshold" region between 10.62 GeV and 11.24 GeV, and the perturbative region above 11.24 GeV, where the measurement is replaced by the perturbative QCD prediction. The choice of 11.24 GeV corresponds to the upper end of the energy range covered by a CLEO measurement more than 20 years ago [22]. It also coincides approximately with the energy reach of a recent BABAR measurement [6].…”

“…At present, there only exist the experimental measurements of the mass and width for Çð11020Þ [8][9][10] while the information of its strong decay behaviors is still absent [7]. To some extent, the prediction presented in this letter could stimulate experimentalists' interest in carrying out further study on Çð11020Þ, especially on its hidden-bottom dipion decays.…”

“…Other than Çð10860Þ studied in Ref. [1], Çð11020Þ can serve a good testing ground to study the hidden-bottom dipion decay involving the ISPE mechanism, where Çð11020Þ was first observed by the CUSB Collaboration [8] and the CLEO Collaboration [9], and measured again by BABAR recently [10].…”
