Observation of Electroweak Production of a Same-Sign W Boson Pair in Association with Two Jets in pp Collisions at s=13

Abstract: This Letter presents the observation and measurement of electroweak production of a same-sign W boson pair in association with two jets using 36.1 fb −1 of proton-proton collision data recorded at a centerof-mass energy of ffiffi ffi s p ¼ 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The analysis is performed in the detector fiducial phase-space region, defined by the presence of two same-sign leptons, electron or muon, and at least two jets with a large invariant mass and rapidity difference. “…CP70 harbored reduced caspase-8 protein level. The combination of cisplatin with rhTRAIL significantly increased apoptosis as compared to cisplatin or rhTRAIL monotherapy [29]. The same effect has been demonstrated in the SKOV-3 and TOV-21G cell lines by Braga et al [30].…”

“…Yet those same dimension-six operators also induce anomalous triple gauge-boson couplings, on which the LHC has significantly extended the constraints from LEP [120], leaving room for aQGCs from dimension-eight operators. Deviations from the SM in these channels have been searched for at both ATLAS [27][28][29] and CMS [30][31][32];…”

“…Such deviations from the SM, induced by new high-scale physics, can be encoded as operators of higher mass dimension in an effective field theory (EFT) of the SM [22][23][24][25][26]. Using current measurements from the LHC [27][28][29][30][31][32], bounds have begun to be placed on the Wilson coefficients of some of the operators in the SMEFT; for a single example see Ref. [33].…”

“…A VBF process is characterized by two back-to-back energetic jets in the forward/backward region of the detector, with large di-jet invariant mass, and significant separation in rapidity |∆y j 1 j 2 |. To select the VBF topology we roughly follow the strategy used in a recent ATLAS W ± W ± jj analysis [131]. Finally, we impose stringent cuts on the transverse momentum of the leptons, and the azimuthal separation between the leading lepton and transverse missing energy (E miss T ) to suppress the irreducible EW W ± W ± jj background.…”
