Abstract:We employed heterodyne-detected vibrational sum-frequency generation (HD-VSFG) spectroscopy to obtain a molecular-level understanding of the interaction between the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl ammonium sulfate (SDS) and the cationic surfactant dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB). We observed that these surfactants show a strong cooperative effect on their adsorption to the water−air interface. Even at bulk concentrations 1000 times lower than the critical micelle concentrations of SDS and DTAB, a nea… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
