Obesidade abdominal, resistência à insulina e hipertensão: impacto sobre a massa e a função do ventrículo esquerdo em mulheres

Abstract: SummaryObjective: To evaluate the relationship between central obesity, hyperinsulinemia and arterial hypertension with left ventricular mass and geometry in women. Methods: This study included 70 women (35-68 years), divided into four groups according to the presence of central obesity and hypertension. Visceral fat area was determined. Blood glucose and plasma insulin were determined before and two hours after an oral 75g glucose load, and the patients were submitted to cardilogical evaluation. Results: Compar… Show more

“…Because the difference in FFM between men and women are confirmed also in the SHS population (32), the paradox effect of relative FFM deficiency on LV geometry in the context of obesity might be especially important in women to explain their increased magnitude of LV mass, a finding that is supported by previous evidence (42,43), but also requires more investigation.…”

“…This suggests that metabolic disorders partly mediate the association between snoring and LVH. As is known to us that hypertension ranks among the most important risk factors of LVH [ 25 ]. What’s more, it has been reported in relevant studies that snoring serves as an important independent risk factor of hypertension [ 26 , 27 ].…”

“…Em média, todas estão com alta chance de complicações metabólicas, no entanto o nível de atividade física da maioria das participantes tem sido baixo. Logo há grande necessidade de uma intervenção no estilo de vida, tanto nos hábitos alimentares quanto na prática de atividades físicas [23][24] .…”
