Objective: to analyze the influence of the climacterium on the marital relationship from a perspective of gender. Methods: qualitative study based on the gender theory, with 20 climacteric women, using interviews and thematic analysis. Results: three categories emerged: Affection, companionship, understanding, respect and dialogue: positive influences of the climacterium on the relationship of the couple; Influence of the climacterium on sexual activity and its interface with the marital relationship; and Estrangement in the conjugal relationship influenced by the climacterium. The positive influences of the climacterium on the marital relationship highlight greater affection, companionship, understanding, respect and dialogue; the climacterium influences the couple due to changes in sexual activity; estrangement in the marital relationship derived from changes in companionship and routine. Conclusion: the climacterium positively influences the marital relationship. However, due to the symptoms of this phase, there are changes in sexual activity that contribute to the estrangement of the couple. Descriptors: Climacteric; Marriage; Women's Health. Objetivo: analisar a influência do climatério em relacionamentos conjugais sob a perspectiva de gênero. Métodos: estudo qualitativo, fundamentado na teoria de gênero, realizado com 20 mulheres climatéricas. Dados coletados por meio de entrevistas e submetidos à análise temática. Resultados: emergiram três categorias: Carinho, companheirismo, compreensão, respeito e diálogo: influências positivas do climatério no relacionamento conjugal; Influência do climatério na atividade sexual e sua interface com o relacionamento conjugal; e distanciamento no relacionamento conjugal influenciado pelo climatério. Os relatos das influências positivas do climatério no relacionamento conjugal destacam a intensificação do carinho, companheirismo, compreensão, respeito e diálogo; o climatério influencia o relacionamento conjugal devido às alterações na atividade sexual; o distanciamento no relacionamento conjugal ocorreu em virtude das mudanças do companheiro e rotina do casal. Conclusão: o climatério influencia positivamente o relacionamento conjugal. Mas, devido aos sintomas desta fase, há mudanças na atividade sexual que contribuem para o distanciamento do casal. Resumo: O climatério é definido como o processo natural do ciclo de vida feminino, inerente à transição da fase reprodutiva para a fase não reprodutiva, e tem o seu marco principal com a menopausa. Durante esse período, a mulher perpassa por várias mudanças fisiológicas, emocionais, sociais e econômicas, que podem impactar negativamente nas atividades exercidas. Com o objetivo de analisar as percepções e os significados atribuídos pelas mulheres atendidas no Ambulatório de Climatério do HC-UFPR sobre o impacto nas atividades cotidianas e nos papéis ocupacionais, realizou-se uma pesquisa exploratória e qualitativa através de um questionário estruturado com dados socioeconômicos, contendo também um check-list autoaplicável e uma entrevista semiestruturada, com aferição dos dados através de técnicas de análise de conteúdo. Observou-se que o preconceito social e o desconhecimento pela mulher sobre as mudanças ocorridas nessa fase se constituem em barreiras para realização de diversas atividades, afetando os cuidados necessários com a saúde e, consequentemente, prejudicando a sua qualidade de vida. Em contrapartida, nesse período, muitas mulheres apresentam maior habilidade de adaptação, descobrindo novas atividades, realizando planos adiados e desempenhando novos papéis ocupacionais. Constata-se a importância da compreensão sobre as mudanças, as percepções e os significados do climatério pela própria mulher e pelos profissionais, para a formulação de uma assistência integral e na qual se valorize a sua individualidade. Palavras-chave: Climatério, Saúde da Mulher, Atividades, Papéis Ocupacionais.Abstract: The climacteric stage is defined as the natural process of the female life cycle, it is inherent to the transition from reproductive to the non-reproductive phase, with the menopause as its major milestone. In this period, women go through several physiological, emotional, social and economic changes that can negatively impact on the activities performed. Aiming to analyze the perceptions and meanings attributed by the women seen at the Climacteric Ambulatory of the Clinical Hospital at Federal University of Paraná, on the impact on daily activities and occupational roles, we conducted an exploratory and qualitative research using a structured questionnaire with socioeconomic data containing, as well as a self-administered checklist and semi-structured interviews, in which data analysis was made using some techniques of content analysis. We observed that social prejudice and unawareness by the woman about the changes in this phase are barriers to conducting several activities, affecting necessary health care and consequently impairing their life's quality. On the other hand, during this period, many women have greater ability to adapt, finding new activities, performing postponed plans and performing new occupational roles. It is important that women and health professionals comprehend the changes, perceptions and meanings of the climacteric stage to formulate a comprehensive care enhancing their individuality.

RESUMENEste estudio tuvo como objetivo conocer la vivencia del climaterio a partir de la perspectiva de las mujeres asistidas. Se trata de una investigación descriptiva con enfoque cualitativo. Las informantes fueron diez mujeres que participaron en un proyecto de extensión sobre el climaterio, llevado a cabo en un hospital de enseñanza en el sur de Brasil. En la recopilación de datos, se utilizó la técnica de entrevista semiestructurada, con posterior análisis temático. La sexualidad, la medicalización del cuerpo y el cuidado de sus propios problemas de salud fueron cuestiones tratadas por las mujeres. Se identificó que las mujeres tienen poca información sobre el climaterio y que el conocimiento construído se da, principalmente, a través del intercambio de experiencias con otras mujeres que lo han experimentado. El estudio amplió el conocimiento sobre la experiencia del climaterio y permitió reflexionar acerca del cuidado ofrecido a estas mujeres.
