Man, since its origin, aims to learn or work with some ability to survive and communicate. Since the discovery of fire, expression through rock art, through cuneiform writing, and through the Gutemberg press until we reach cyberspace, today, techniques and technologies have changed and evolved to improve the quality of life for man and society where you live. Thus, it is visible that changes have happened and continue to happen, constantly, in several areas. Technologies were changing and, as a great motivating element, allied to them, was communication, which aims at the exchange of information between individuals. This work proposes a reflection around some concepts and discussions that involve information and communication technologies (ICTs). The objective is to bring a brief history of the evolution of ICTs over time and to present a relationship of this trajectory with the educational context that contemporary society is experiencing (pandemic, home office, remote education). The methodology used in the production of this article was bibliographic research, reviewing literature on the subject and investigating the current discussions involving the theme. The text was co-authored, using the Google Drive document text toolwithin the virtual environment and remotely, marking the importance of ICTs in contemporary times, both for research and for education. Therefore, it is considered that technologies are in constant evolution, what was unthinkable, considered impossible to happen is being seen in the present and, for the future, much remains to come thanks to the changes generated by the technologies.
