Nutrients Uptake in Shoots and Biomass Yields and Roots and Nutritive Value of Zuri Guinea Grass Inoculated with Plant Growth-promoting Bacteria

Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB) inoculation in Zuri guinea grass [Megathyrsus (syn. Panicum) maximus] on shoot dry weight (SDW) and root dry weight (RDW) yield, morphological compositions, number of tillers, and nutrients concentrations in SDW. The experiment was carried out under greenhouse conditions in a randomized block design consisting of eight treatments with five replicates. The inoculation with the Ab-V5 and Ab-V6 strains of Azospirillu… Show more

“…B.K.Simon & Jacobs (syn. Panicum maximum) genotypes Zuri Guinea (Sá et al 2019b) and Mombassa (Leite et al 2019a). However, the great majority of the pastures in Brazil and worldwide is already established, and nothing is known on the feasibility of inoculation of PGPB to boost plant growth and forage biomass production under these conditions.…”

“…According to Resende and collaborators [2], he effects of inoculation with A. brasilense strains (Ab-V5 + Ab-V6) and with R. tropici + Ab-V6 in maize, increases in height and consequently in production of dry mass of the aerial part of the plants were found in relation to the control treatment without inoculation. Evaluating the agronomic response of triticale culture to different forms of application of strains of Azospirillum, Sipione and collaborators [41] did not find positive effects of leaf inoculation for height, stem dry matter and shoot dry matter.…”

“…Cuando los biofertilizantes se han aplicado junto con una fuente de N sintético, se han logrado respuestas superiores o equivalentes a la aplicación del 100 % del requerimiento de N por una absorción más eficiente, reduciéndose las pérdidas de N causadas por lixiviación hasta en un 95 % (36) . Los mejores resultados en términos productivos y económicos se han observado con la aplicación combinada del inoculante y N (36)(37)(38)(39)(40) .…”
