Se obtuvo un modelo matemático para determinar la cantidad de cargas generadas en el tiempo en la cámara anódica de una celda de combustible microbiana, utilizando Escherichia coli como organismo electrogénico. El modelo se utilizó para estimar la eficiencia eléctrica desde el punto de vista de los rendimientos microbianos como son biomasa, sustrato y producto, y los coeficientes estequiométricos de las especies mencionadas. El modelo matemático se construyó mediante la descripción del crecimiento microbiano a través de un modelo logístico de población, el cual arrojó un coeficiente de determinación entre el modelo y los datos experimentales de R 2 = 0.960 para sustrato y R 2 = 0.982 para biomasa. Con este modelo de predicción de cargas eléctricas, en el futuro se procederá primero a medir experimentalmente rendimientos microbianos y coeficientes estequiométricos dado un organismo electrogénico, para estudiar así la factibilidad de implementación de dicha celda. ABSTRACTA preliminary study focused on modeling microbial fuel cells through microbial yields was performed. A mathematical model to determine the quantity of charge generated over time in the anodic chamber of a microbial fuel cell, using Escherichia coli as the electrogenic organism, was designed. This model was used in order to estimate the electrical efficiency of microbial yields such as biomass, substrate, and product, and the stoichiometric coefficients of the species aforementioned. The microbial fuel cell (MFC) a classification of fuel cell has attracted wide research attention for resolving the emerging energy and environmental crisis of present and future generation. Owing to its strong compliances towards sustainable development goal and safety it is seen as a promising substitution for the polluting technologies. Though this technology has seen tremendous growth in their own technological competence their commercialisation is unrealistic on instantaneous adaptation. The opinion covers the protagonist role of MFC in providing solution to the energy and environmental problems along with its limitations and its competence for future real time application.
