“…Following this line of reasoning, the aim of the present study was to conduct content validation of NOC outcomes and indicators for Acute Pain, one of the NDs most commonly established in hospital nursing practice (Ferreira, Predebon, Cruz, & Rabelo, 2011; Lucena & Barros, 2006; Lucena, Guterréz, Echer, & Barros, 2010). Furthermore, pain assessment is a major object of nursing investigations, which supports the idea of exploring its context in a hospital setting (Arbour & Gélinas, 2011; Haslam, Dale, Knechtel, & Rose, 2011).…”

“…To achieve this clinical process, nurses need to think critically based on scientific knowledge and on a model such as the nursing process, which includes standardized language systems. These systems consist of tools to assist and qualify the care because these subsidize the diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions, contributing to a more effective communication and documentation of clinical practice (Lucena, Gutierrez, Echer, & Barros, ; Lucena, Holsbach, Pruinelli, Cardoso, & Mello, ; Lunney, ).…”
