Considering the importance of respecting and observing patients’ rights, this study aimed to assess the level of observance of hospitalized patients’ rights from both patients’ and health-care workers' (HCWs) perspectives. This cross-sectional descriptive-analytic study reports the responses of 486 patients and 887 HCWs in a public referral university hospital. The study illustrates that patients and HCWs think patients’ rights are respected at a medium level; however, HCWs reported lower levels of respect for patients’ rights than patients, and senior HCWs reported even lower levels than their younger colleagues. Older patients and those hospitalized in internal medicine wards reported lower respect for autonomy and responsiveness, and patients’ companions reported lower levels of respect for patients’ rights than the patients themselves.

Background and Aim Mental fatigue (MF) was a major challenge for nurses during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Nurses’ sense of responsibility towards their patients and societies may influence their MF. This study aimed to assess the relationship between MF and social responsibility (SR) among nurses who provided care to patients with COVID-19. Methods This cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study was conducted in 2021. Participants were 258 nurses randomly selected from eleven COVID-19 care hospitals in Tehran, Iran. Data were collected using three self-report instruments, namely a demographic questionnaire, the Mental Fatigue Scale, and the Social Responsibility Questionnaire. The SPSS software (v. 16.0) was used to analyze the data at a significance level of less than 0.05. Results The mean scores of MF and SR were 31.73 ± 7.35 and 3.45 ± 0.35, respectively. The highest and the lowest scored SR subscales were ethical responsibilities with a mean of 3.67 ± 0.42 and economic responsibilities with a mean of 2.93 ± 0.62. MF had a significant negative correlation with legal responsibilities and a significant positive correlation with economic responsibilities (P < 0.05). The only significant predictor of SR was financial status which significantly predicted 4.3% of the variance of SR (P < 0.05). Conclusion More than half of the nurses who provided care to patients with COVID-19 suffered from MF and their mental fatigue had a significant correlation with their legal and economic responsibilities. Healthcare authorities and policymakers need to develop programs to reduce nurses’ MF and improve their satisfaction.

Leadership is a tool and a potential power in an organization. Managers would be able to achieve organizational goals and also manage conflicts in a more effective manner by using appropriate leadership styles. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between leadership styles and conflict management among the nurses of Hamadan City's educational and health centers.This study was carried out utilizing a descriptive and correlational procedure. Using the stratified random sampling method in this study, 240 nurses were selected from educational and health centers. Two standard questionnaires were used for gathering data regarding leadership style and conflict management. The data were analyzed using SPSS software version 16 and by employing statistical tests such as Pearson's correlation coefficient and Kruskal-Wallis test.The most common leadership style observed in the nurses was the democratic type (94.6%), while the directive style and the combined approach was preferred by only 2.5 and 2.9%, respectively. Moreover, the most preferred strategy of conflict management was non-intervention (50.15 ± 10.34), followed by the solution-oriented (38.65 ± 7.31) and control (27.04 ± 3.61) strategies. A significant relationship between the leadership style attribute and the conflict management strategy was found (p < 0.001).It was found that leadership style is significantly and positively correlated with the solution-oriented and nonintervention strategies of conflict management. In contrast, the relationship between leadership style and control strategy is not significant. Adoption of the democratic leadership style and the combined strategy is recommended for nursing managers in the field of conflict management.
