Nurses’ attitudes towards occupational transformation processes brought about by digital care technologies

Abstract: Background. Digital technologies increasingly shape today’s world of work. This not only affects sectors such as knowledge work and the automotive industry, but also the care sector. On the one hand, many nurses today use technologies supporting some selected and rather peripheral nursing tasks (e.g., electronic documentation). “…The decomposed theory well explains the influencing factors of behavioral intention. Previous studies using the DTPB model have demonstrated, for example, nurses' readiness to accept mobile electronic medical record systems [28], and nurses' attitudes towards occupational transformation processes associated with digital care technologies [29]. Nurses' experience with the barriers and facilitators of using telehealth applications has also been explored, and it was found that nurses' face-to-face skills and attitudes were limiting factors in the acceptance of telehealth [9], as well as nurses' perspectives on the efficacy of telenursing and quality of care, which was largely positive, but knowledge was lacking [30].…”

“…Uuden teknologian sulautuminen osaksi normaalia toimintaa vaatii usein aikaa. Teknologian tarjoamista mahdollisuuksista on hyötyä vain, jos työntekijät hyväksyvät uudet työtavat [20]. Normalisointiprosessiteoria korostaa sitä, että uuden teknologian sulautuminen normaaliin toimintaan on yksilön ja yhteisön vuorovaikutuksen tulosta [18].…”
