Numerical Study to Enhance the Sensitivity of a Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor with BlueP/WS2-Covered Al2O3-Nickel Nanofilms

Abstract: In the traditional surface plasmon resonance sensor, the sensitivity is calculated by the usage of angular interrogation. The proposed surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor uses a diamagnetic material (Al2O3), nickel (Ni), and two-dimensional (2D) BlueP/WS2 (blue phosphorous-tungsten di-sulfide). The Al2O3 sheet is sandwiched between silver (Ag) and nickel (Ni) films in the Kretschmann configuration. A mathematical simulation is performed to improve the sensitivity of an SPR sensor in the visible region at a … Show more

“…7 can be used to find the detection limit and limit of qualification of the optimized hybrid biosensing design, in addition to Table 7. The parameters detection limit (DL) and limit of qualification (LoQ) of any SPR-based biosensors are defined as: 14,24 Here, the slope of the line, as plotted in Fig. 6, is 462.14 and the standard deviation (SD) of the refractive indices of the samples under consideration (see Table 7) is 0.023886654.…”

“…In addition, the novel 2D material of blue phosphorus (BlueP)/TMDC with similar hexagonal crystal-like structure has attracted attention [ 30 ]. Shivangani et al theoretically presented a SPR sensor by using BlueP/WS 2 on Ag–Al 2 O 3 –Ni and exhibited the sensitivity of 374 °/RIU at 633 nm [ 31 ].…”
