Numerical Study on Erosion Wear and Strength of Main Gas Pipelines Bends

Abstract: The purpose of this work is to ensuring the strength of main gas pipelines bends by studying the peculiarities of single-phase and multiphase flows movement through the internal cavity, the processes of erosion wear and the wall stress state. The problem of synergistic influence of gas-dynamic processes (uneven pressure distribution in the internal cavity), temperature difference and erosion wear on the stress state of the bends of main gas pipelines was solved by numerical simulation. Based on the results of … Show more

“…These accumulations pose substantial hydraulic resistance, resulting in increased pressure losses, reduced pipeline capacity, and decreased the recovery of hydrocarbon volumes. [4] Moreover, the accumulation of liquid contaminants within the internal cavities of gas pipelines can lead to erosive wear of fittings [5], internal corrosion processes, that prolonged operation reduces the parameters of resistance to fatigue and prolonged static loading in corrosive environments [6]. Corrosion processes are accompanied by significant losses of the transported product [7].…”
