Numerical study of the antibiotic transport and distribution in the Laizhou Bay, China

Abstract: A large number of antibiotic residues are discharged into aquatic environments due to the widespread use of antibiotics in daily life. After a series of processes in the water, the residues will potentially have adverse impacts on water ecosystem and human health. Therefore, it is critical for mediating the pollution to know how the antibiotics transport and distribute in the water. This study utilizes a two-dimensional lattice Boltzmann model to find out the transport and distribution of antibiotics in a high… Show more

“…La modelización matemática y numérica puede ser una herramienta valiosa para comprender el transporte y la acumulación de microplásticos en sistemas fluviales (Xing et al, 2024). Integrar datos de caudales, corrientes y propiedades de microplásticos en modelos hidrodinámicos puede ayudar a predecir patrones de dispersión y áreas de acumulación (Bravo et al, 2022).…”

“…Notably, Qin et al (2018) reported that a water diversion project could reduce antibiotic contamination in Gonghu Bay, China. The transport and distribution of antibiotics in bays have also been studied using models (Xing et al, 2020;Liu et al, 2022). Globally, He et al (2019) detected the presence of fluoroquinolone, macrolide, and sulfonamide antibiotics in water samples in Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary in the United States, and recorded the highest concentrations for norfloxacin (94.1 ng/L), enrofloxacin (17.8 ng/L), sulfamethoxazole (14.8 ng/L), and clarithromycin (9.7 ng/ L).…”
