Numerical Simulation Study of Aerodynamic Noise in High-Rise Buildings

Abstract: In order to study the aerodynamic noise on the surfaces of high-rise buildings under the action of strong winds, this paper numerically simulated the sound pressure field on the surface of a high-rise building using the large-eddy simulation method combined with the acoustic analog method of FW-H (Ffowcs Williams–Hawkings) equation and obtained the intensity radiation distribution of sound pressure on the surface of the building to further identify the area with the maximum sound pressure intensity of the nois… Show more

“…Combined with the elliptical equation, an algebraic mesh generation method was introduced to construct a high-quality mesh for the simulation of vehicle aerodynamics (ElCheikh and ElKhoury, 2019;Fu et al, 2020) conducted a comparative analysis of the influence of ground boundary conditions on the simulation accuracy of airflow around a vehicle. The effect of an air deflector on the aerodynamic drag of a truck has been studied using a hybrid grid technique (Li et al, 2008). The calculated results are consistent with those of a wind tunnel test.…”

“…Furthermore, describing the turbulent air flow over structures such as buildings, bridges, or bluff-body vehicles holds significant importance in many technical disciplines, such as aeroelasticity or aeroacoustics, see e.g. [2], or more recent [3].…”

“…Flow-induced noise is a common issue in many application scenarios, and there have been numerous numerical simulation eforts dedicated to noise prediction [12][13][14]. Chode et al [15] explore the aerodynamic noise generated by a standard squareback body with inclined side-view mirrors, employing a hybrid computational aeroacoustic method.…”
