Numerical Simulation of Gas Exchange in Fresh-keeping Transportation Containers with a Controlled Atmosphere

Abstract: Maintaining a suitable gas composition in a transportation container with controlled atmosphere is important. When O 2 concentration is below the suitable value, gas exchange is activated to improve O 2 concentration.

“…The product affects the direction and velocity value of the airflow in a container. In particular, the air velocity can be significantly weakened upon contact with the product [ 37 ]. Consideration must be given to the viscosity of the airflow near the container and the product surface size; thus, superficial velocity should be an option in the porous formulation.…”

“…The independence of the generated mesh by ICEM-CFD is very important when simulated in FLUENT. Mesh size is the main reason for direct error accumulation [44,45]. Additionally, large mesh size also significantly slows down calculation efficiency.…”
