Numerical Optimization of Shrinkage and Warpage on the Injection Molding Process Parameters of Electrical Connector

Abstract: Integrated with orthogonal design method and numerical simulation, injection molding process of the Y-type electrical connectors was conducted to study the influence of process parameters on volume shrinkage rate and maximum warpage, which are regarded as product quality indices. The multi-indices valuation model for the main influencing factors of the process is developed. The influencing sensitivity to the multi-objective of the processing parameters, such as melt temperature, mold temperature, injection tim… Show more

“…If the existing heat and pressure is continued, it will produce a chemical reaction that can harden the thermosetting material. A mold for thermosetting materials is subjected to heat between 3000 -3590 F (1490 -1820 C) and a molding pressure between 11 bar [5].…”

“…[4,5]. e distinct localized shrinkage commonly results from a local thick-wall structure, such as ribs, bosses, and other similar structures [3,6], which is also greatly affected by the process parameters in injection molding [7][8][9], including the melt temperature [10][11][12], packing pressure [13,14], packing time [15], cooling time [16], injection pressure [17], and injection speed [18].…”
