Numerical modeling of cutting process of steel sheets using a laser beam

Abstract: Laser beam cutting technology is becoming increasingly popular in various industries. Advantages of this method is a very high cutting speed and a precision of edges of cut elements. Good quality depends on many technological parameters. Numerical prediction of the effect of cutting process parameters on the quality of the surface can be useful for technologists. The work concerns the numerical analysis of the laser cutting process of sheet made of steel. The influence of selected parameters on the energy effi… Show more

“…While numerous thermal and mechanical simulations of welding processes exist, few studies address gouging simulations. However, some works [10][11][12] have simulated the laser cutting process, which, in some extent, is close to the computational approach for gouging simulation.…”

“…When the temperature exceeds the liquidus temperature, the history of the plastic deformation is cleared and yield modulus is low. Simulation of laser beam cutting technology [2] is becoming increasingly popular in various industries. Electron beam welding in the Visual Weld environment uses the same type of heat source like laser welding -3D conical Gaussian heat source model.…”
