The article analyzes the work of the oxygen-converter shop of PJSC «ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih». It is shown that almost half of the total number of blowing supplements (~ 44%) is carried out by temperature. In order to improve the conditions of steel smelting and reduce resource costs, calculations were performed and new technological solutions were found in steel smelting to reduce the number of additives. The study of real smelters demonstrated the need for corrective operations in the smelting of steel using scrap metal of different types. Scrap smelts have a clear relationship between the amount of scrap in the charge and the temperature of the melt in the first dump. The addition of «goat» scrap to the charge has a number of uncontrolled effects on the process due to significant fluctuations in the chemical composition of this type of metal charge. An economic analysis with introducing the developed control mechanism over the course of steel smelting into the software system for conditions PSJC «ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih» was performed.

Phase change is a phenomenon that has been extensively utilized in chemical engineering, energy, electronics, vehicle, and space exploration. From both the science and engineering perspectives, gaining a profound understanding of the intricacies of multiphase flow processes accompanied by heat and mass transfer due to phase change is of fundamental importance. Indeed, the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has been increasingly applied as an effective tool to give an in-depth and efficient analysis of the phase change processes, thereby enhancing our understanding and capacity to control and optimize the phase change effects in these processes. This paper seeks to provide a comprehensive review of the utilization of CFD methodologies in the simulations of phase change flows across various applications, including temperature management, drying, separation and purification, and others. First, the CFD models at various scales that are developed to elucidate the phase change processes are summarized. Second, the noteworthy advances in the recent CFD simulation work on various phase change processes are presented, respectively. Finally, the challenges and potential prospects to facilitate the application of the phase change flow are discussed. The current review aims to offer insightful guidance for the CFD modeling of phase change processes in numerous engineering application scenarios.

Selective laser sintering technology has broad application prospects in the manufacture of small batch parts with complex structure. In the sintering process, the preheating efficiency and temperature of powder layer determine the processing quality. A method of preheating powder by lamp radiation and tropical heat conduction is proposed in this paper. The thermal radiation model is established, and the angle coefficient is introduced to describe the proportion of radiation energy on the surface of powder layer. Based on the geometric characteristics of the powder cylinder, the heat conduction process is simplified to one-dimensional heat conduction along the radial direction, and the heat conduction model is established. The coupled temperature field under two actions is obtained by combining the heat radiation model with the heat conduction model. The uniformity coefficient [Formula: see text]/[Formula: see text] of the temperature field is defined to represent the uniformity of the preheating temperature field of the powder layer. By comparing the uniformity coefficient [Formula: see text], a more uniform temperature field can be obtained when the height coefficient is 1.8 under combined action. The validity of the model is verified by a comparative experiment with processed water atomized iron powder. Constructing uniform temperature field can effectively reduce the deformation of parts and improve the forming quality.
