Numerical evaluation of dynamic earth lateral pressure on basement walls in cohesionless soils (a case study of Iranian earthquakes)

Abstract: Various earth-retaining structures are extensively used in different civil engineering projects. Using the results of experimental and numerical modeling, the effect of the earthquake loading on the distribution of the earth lateral pressures on basement walls was investigated. The UBCHYST constitutive model was used in the performed numerical simulations, and using the results of 12 centrifuge dynamic model tests, a calibration process was conducted to obtain the proper input parameters for numerical models. … Show more
