Numerical and experimental analysis of fretting fatigue performance of the 1350-H19 aluminum alloy

Abstract: When power transmission cables are subjected to oscillatory displacements, due to the wind vibration, fretting fatigue phenomenon takes place, being the main prompter of catastrophic failure. In this work, we investigate the behavior of an 1350-H19 aluminum wire, that is a structural element of the IBIS (ACSR 397.5 MCM) conductor cable, when subjected to fretting fatigue. For this, a numerical methodology was developed, in which a three-dimensional finite element model was constructed to obtain the maximum Von… Show more

“…They indicate that the higher roughness of surface reduces the life of fretting fatigue. Rodrigo et al [24] studied the behavior of two cables (1350-H19 aluminum) in contact; subjected to the phenomenon of fretting fatigue using a numerical method such as a 3D finite element model, they also used an experimental method on the MTS3222.21 machine. Kyvia et al [25] published a very interesting article on aspects of fretting fatigue, based on the experiences, analyzes and research of researchers in this field.…”
