Abstract:We analyse the coupling of THz radiation to a GaAs waveguide through a metallic grating with sub-wavelength slits. This result is compared to the coupling through a sub-wavelength-sized aperture in a chromium mask to a diffraction-free layered superlens at visible wavelengths. We demonstrate efficient coupling of a plane-wave to the multilayer. The mode resembles a ray -a term usually reserved for geometric-optics, and unknown to nanooptics. However, the width of the mode is sub-wavelength and the propagation … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
