The results of numerical investigations of the filtration regime and stability of an earth dam under reservoir drawdown are considered. The problem of unsteady filtration in a homogeneous earth dam is solved. The parameters of the filtration flow are determined: the position of the depression surface, the values and direction of filtration gradients and flow velocities. The changes in the maximum filtration gradients and the probability of filtration deformations are analyzed. Calculations are made to assess the stability of the upstream slope during the stages of reservoir drawdown with different velocities. It is shown that a dam with a large stability margin when the reservoir is full may lose it and be destroyed in the process of drawdown. Conclusions are drawn about the necessary measures to ensure reliability and safety during operation of the structure.

This study aims to determine the appropriate method for modeling separation processes in wave-type moisture vane separators and to analyze possible design improvements of the typical wave-type vane separator using numerical simulation methods. It discusses conditions of the secondary droplets generation phenomena. The applicability of the particle transport method for modeling the working process in wave-type vane separators is confirmed. The study explores the water droplets distribution pattern in the dispersed two-phase flow of a separator. A numerical study of the workflow in the typical steam-water separator with wave-type vanes was carried out. A dispersed two-phase flow in a separator is modelled as two separate flows. Dry saturated steam is considered as a continuous medium using the Euler method; the liquid phase is represented as a stream of water droplets described by the Lagrange method. Authors propose an option of modernization of the separator design applying three drainage channels on the path of small droplets.

In a paper the method for remote monitoring of the radiation characteristics of the environment in the area of the nuclear power plant is considered. To solve this problem, the need to use remote methods of environmental monitoring is justified A method is proposed for determining radioactive formations in the atmosphere using a radar station. Using the methodology for determining radioactive formations in the atmosphere by changing the reflection coefficient of an electromagnetic wave from a given formation is justified. Calculation of changes in the reflection coefficient of an electromagnetic wave from a radioactive formation in the atmosphere for different climatic conditions is calculated. The results of studies of radioactive contamination in the atmosphere are presented. The advantages of the method developed by us in comparison with others are noted. The directions of scientific research to expand the functionality of the method developed by us are determined.
