Nucleotide sequences of MHC class I introns 1, 2, and 3 in humans and intron 2 in nonhuman primates

Abstract: HLA-class I genes are the most polymorphic genetic system yet known. The polymorphic substitutions are mostly located in exon 2 and 3, encoding alpha 1 and alpha 2 domains, respectively, which are involved in peptide binding and T cell receptor interaction. In this study, we present the sequences of the introns neighboring the polymorphic exons in humans with few examples from nonhuman primates. In general, intron sequences are found to be less polymorphic than the adjacent exons, displaying numerous locus-spe… Show more

“…The corresponding sequences from HLAB*1504, 1515, 1539, 4901 were obtained from Gomez Casado et al [5,6] and HLA-B*15170102, 151702, 1566, 4504, 47010101, 5001, 5401, and 5512 allele sequences were taken from IMGT-HLA database (www.ebi.ac.uk/imgt/hla) [1]. The intron compilation by Cereb et al [9] was also used.…”

“…Identical viral epitopes are recognized by human long-term nonprogressors in the context of particular HLA class I molecules associated with resistance (42). However, humans The P value is calculated for Tajima's D. (29). In some cases two allele designations are mentioned when it is not clear which allele couples to the particular intron 2 sequence.…”

“…The B*1517 allele possesses the deletion, whereas in B*1501 and B*1504 the deletion is not present. The deletion is also found in alleles from the allele groups B*07, *08, *14, *38, *39, *40, *41, *42, *45, *48, *49, *50, *54, *55, *57, and *73 [1,29]. Also within the B*40 group, alleles with and without the deletion were identified, as was the case for the B*15 group.…”
