Nucleate pool boiling heat transfer: Review of models and bubble dynamics parameters

Abstract: Understanding nucleate pool boiling heat transfer and, in particular the accurate prediction of conditions that can lead to critical heat flux, is of the utmost importance in many industries. Due to the safety issues related to the nuclear power plants, and for the efficient operation of many heat transfer units including fossil fuel boilers, fusion reactors, electronic chips, etc., it is important to understand this kind of heat transfer. In this paper, a comprehensive review of analytical a… Show more

“…Global comparisons showed excellent agreement, demonstrating that the localized theoretical approach is a consistent analysis tool for applying finned heat pipes to heat exchangers. Andrijana D. Stojanović et al [8] reaffirm the importance of understanding the heat transfer process in nucleated boiling and accurately predicting the conditions that lead to the critical flow situation, mainly for safety reasons in nuclear power plants. They present a comprehensive review of heat transfer in nucleated boiling and discuss the results of studies related to the heat transfer coefficient in boiling processes and the characteristics associated with the phenomenon.…”

“…Investigated micro roughness and smooth surfaces and explained that smaller nucleation cavities lead to smaller bubbles whereas higher bubble frequencies lead to larger fluxes (Benjamin and Balakrishnan, 1996). Conducted a comprehensive analytical and numerical review on heat transfer of boiling pool nucleates (Stojanović et al, 2022). From his study, it has been understood the characteristics of boiling phenomena such as bubble emergence, bubble emergence frequency, and bubble waiting time and growth.…”
