Nowcasting Irradiance and Wind With Free Data

Abstract: All solar power plants are exposed to variable weather conditions. The key variables are irradiance, wind, and precipitation. These meteorological phenomena can challenge operations and structural integrity alike. Short-term foresight allows to react pre-emptively and in time: Even systems which take several minutes can reach a safe stow position or adapt the temperature of the receiver.
