Novel single‐layer continuous suture of pancreaticojejunostomy for robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy

Abstract: Background The best technique for pancreatic anastomosis after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) remains controversial, and the procedure for robotic PD (RPD) has not been previously reported. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and feasibility of a novel technique of pancreaticojejunostomy (PJ) for RPD. Methods The demographics and perioperative outcomes of a consecutive series of RPD patients who underwent single‐layer continuous suture (SCS) for PJ between September 2018 and November 2018 were analyzed. Irrespective of the cut-off, duct diameter was associated with CR-POPF (OR 3.14, 95% CI 2.53-3.90, P < 0.01) (Fig.…”

“…The detailed surgical procedures and lymphadenectomy have been described in our previous studies. 17,18 Patients were randomly assigned (in a 2:1 ratio) to either a training cohort or a validation cohort. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the PLA General Hospital, and written informed consent was obtained from all patients.…”

“…In a systematic review, the high POPF rate of 26.2% in patients with a soft pancreatic texture was independent of the type of PJ method used [16]. Other new PJ methods adopted to MIPD have also been proposed [40][41][42]. However, the studies were not limited to patients with a soft pancreatic texture and direct comparison with the present study is di cult.…”
