Abstract:Free fatty acid receptor 4 (FFAR4), also known as G‐protein coupled receptor 120 (GPR120), is a long‐chain unsaturated fatty acid receptor expressed in adipocytes, endothelial cells, and macrophages. Activation of FFAR4 helps maintain metabolic homeostasis by regulating adipogenesis, insulin sensitivity, and inflammation. While FFAR4 is best known for its role its role in preventing obesity and diabetes, recent studies have demonstrated that FFAR4 may also play an important role in the development of atheroscl… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
